9.4 Monitoring and Measurement

Performance monitoring helps us understand how our optimizations affect real user experiences. We use tools like Google PageSpeed Insights, WebPageTest, and real user monitoring to track performance metrics over time.

Regular performance audits help identify areas for improvement and ensure that new features don’t negatively impact site speed. These audits should cover both technical metrics and user experience indicators.

Performance budgets establish limits for asset sizes and loading times, helping prevent performance regressions as projects evolve. These budgets should be realistic but challenging, encouraging optimization without hindering development progress.
